ReefNorthEast  is a novel concept to see the research, development and deployment of a truly multipurpose artificial reef and regional icon off the North East English coast.

The project aims to:

• Enhance recreational amenities
• Promote educational and cultural outreach
• Provide suitable habitat to increase biodiversity
• Provide coastal defence
• Ensure world-class marine research and spin-out business opportunities

The project, from the very early stages, is guided by the diverse stakeholder groups by understanding their desires, needs and concerns and directing the project accordingly to result in long-term success.
